Curtin Malaysia students staging theatre production to aid charity

Miri – 13 October 2017 – Theatre enthusiasts among students and staff of Curtin University, Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) and the local community are invited to the production of ‘Hunter’s Hunt – A Maze of Mystery’ by student thespians of the Curtin Theatre Arts Club (CuTAC) on 4 November 2017.

A percentage of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to PDK Morsjaya, the community-based rehabilitation centre for special children in Morsjaya, to fund its building maintenance and upgrading works.

Tickets to the play, which will be staged in the university’s Auditorium, are priced at RM30 (individual) and RM55 (group of two) for members of the public while staff and students of the university will be charged RM20 for individuals and RM35 for a group of two respectively.

This will be CuTAC’s third production following the success of its ‘Romeo and Juliet – A Twist of Time’ and ‘Love-O-Medic – Confusion of the Practitioners’ productions in 2015 and 2016.

This year’s play was written by three members of the club – second-year accounting student Ammar Faez bin Mohd Affandi, first-year public relations and film and TV student Lanny Ho Shi Shi and final-year hospitality and tourism management and marketing student Lavan Rajendra.

It will be directed by Ammar Faez and co-directed by second-year hospitality and tourism management and marketing student Kimbely Mayble Arthur.

Club advisor and Head of Programme of Curtin Malaysia’s Faculty of Humanities Tharshni Kumarasamy commented that it was very encouraging seeing people from all walks of life coming together for the love of theatre and arts for the last two productions. She said the club is counting on the same amount of support this year.

“The audience will not only get to enjoy the show but also, in supporting PDK Morsjaya, provide better facilities for its residents,” said Tharshni.
