Curtin Malaysia’s Foundation intake extended to 20 April

Miri – 20 March 2018 – Curtin University, Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) is extending its current Foundation programme intake to 20 April 2018 to cater to SPM school-leavers who have just received their results and are keen to enter Foundation programmes in Engineering and Science, Commerce or Arts.

The extension also applies to students with STPM, UEC, O-Level, A-Level, diploma and matriculation qualifications who have yet to apply.

Though classes are due to commence on 26 March following a week-long orientation this week, the newly-enrolled students will still be able to catch up through special orientation sessions in place of the formal orientation and replacement learning sessions for missed classes.

The students are guaranteed places in the undergraduate programmes of their choice in the university’s Faculty of Engineering and Science, Faculty of Business or Faculty of Humanities upon successful completion of their one-year Foundation programmes.

Curtin Malaysia’s Foundation programmes are intensive, focused programmes aimed at ensuring students attain the academic requirements to enter undergraduate programmes and be able to adapt to university life more confidently, both in terms of level and style of education.

To give them the best opportunity to achieve their goals, students are taught by highly experienced lecturers and have access to various academic and personal support mechanisms. They also benefit from low student-lecturer ratios in classrooms and a variety of modern, diversified teaching methods including workshops, tutorials, laboratory projects and group work.

Curtin Malaysia is the largest international campus and global hub in Asia of Curtin University, a global university with campuses in Australia, Malaysia, Singapore and Dubai, and ranked in the top one per cent of universities worldwide in the prestigious Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).

Students at Curtin Malaysia study courses identical to those at other Curtin campuses in Australia, Singapore and Dubai, and degrees earned at the Malaysian campus are conferred directly by the parent campus in Perth.

They also enjoy an undifferentiated learning experience and student support mechanisms such online study resources and distributed learning between campuses.

Like its Australian campus, Curtin Malaysia has a very global focus with over 4,000 students from more than 50 countries and highly-qualified teaching staff from some 20 countries further strengthening its international outlook.

Curtin Malaysia has just launched full and partial Curtin Foundation Scholarships worth RM3 million for outstanding students from top-performing secondary schools in Miri and the region, including rural schools, to undertake one-year Foundation programmes in 2018. Eligible candidates must be nominated by, and apply through, their school principals or counsellors. Students are urged to take up this brilliant opportunity to study at a world class university right at their door step.

In addition, students with outstanding results in the SPM, STPM, O-Level, A-Level and UEC examinations can take advantage of the Curtin Malaysia Merit Scholarships offering significant tuition fee waivers to pursue a quality Australian education with Curtin Malaysia.

Other financial aid such as PTPTN study loans, EPF/SOCSO withdrawal schemes and a Fee Instalment Plan are also available. Full details can be obtained at scholarships.curtin.edu.my.
