First-ever Slide the City event in East Malaysia to be held at Curtin Malaysia
Posted date:Miri – 26 March 2018 – Members of the public in Miri are invited to the first-ever ‘Slide the City Miri’ event being organised by the Student Council of Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) in collaboration with Monkey Theory Sdn. Bhd., a Kuala Lumpur-based event company and holder of the ‘Slide the City’ franchise in Southeast Asia, as part of this year’s Miri May Fest celebration.
Billed as a family-friendly slip-and-slide water party event, it will be held at the Curtin Malaysia campus here on 5 and 6 May 2018, from 8.30 am to 6.30 pm, and as it is a major highlight of the Miri May Fest calendar of events, has the full support of the Miri City Council.
‘Slide the City’ has been bringing gigantic water slides onto city streets in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Japan, China and many other countries for well over a decade. The first ‘Slide the City’ in Malaysia was held in Kuala Lumpur in December 2015 and has since travelled to other locations in Melaka, Pahang, Johor, Penang and Selangor.
The highlight of Slide the City Miri will be a gigantic thee-lane water slide that the organisers say will guarantee lots of fun for both adult and young thrill-seekers. Other attractions will include live entertainment, fun games and a wide variety of food, retail and activity stalls run by student clubs and local businesses in a real carnival-like atmosphere.
“We aim to provide an invigorating experience for visitors, and the same time help promote Miri as a tourism destination,” commented organising chairperson Wong Pik Yee.
“It will be a unique and extraordinary event that will bring families and friends together for a fun time, and also allow Curtin Malaysia to further connect with the Miri community. It will also be an opportunity for our students involved to hone their organisational and entrepreneurship skills,” he added.
