Future students can learn more about Curtin Malaysia on its Open Day

Miri – 6 October 2017 – The Curtin University, Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) Open Day this 14 October will be an ideal opportunity for future students to discover everything they need to know about Curtin University’s largest international campus and global hub in Asia.

They are encouraged to visit the ‘Future Students Hub’ at the campus’ Recreation & Event Centre from 10 am to 5 pm where they can gain first-hand knowledge about courses, scholarships, enrollment, facilities and student life.

Curtin Malaysia offers a wide range of Curtin undergraduate and postgraduate courses in engineering and science, business and the humanities, in addition to pre-university courses that feed directly into its degree programmes.

Students are assured of the best in course curriculum as testified by Curtin’s commendable rankings in the global subject rankings, as well as in course delivery as the same exacting standards of learning and teaching are practiced at both its Perth and Malaysia campuses.

Curtin University’s subject rankings include top 150 in the world for engineering and science in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) Field Rankings, as well as No. 19 for Mineral and Mining Engineering, No. 45 for Chemical Engineering and No. 75 for Earth Sciences in the ShanghaiRanking Global Ranking of Academic Subjects.

In the QS World University Rankings (QSWUR) by Subject, Curtin is ranked No. 2 for Mineral and Mining Engineering and is in the top 100 for Earth and Marine Sciences, top 150 for Chemical Engineering and Civil and Construction Engineering, and top 200 for Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Accounting and Finance and Business and Management Studies.

Curtin Malaysia offers courses in all these subject areas which are also professionally-accredited nationally and internationally.

In addition to marketing and faculty staff who will help future students and their parents make informed decisions about studying at Curtin Malaysia, representatives of PTPTN and Yayasan Sarawak will also be on hand to promote their study loans and scholarships.

Guided tours of the campus will also be conducted from the ‘Future Students Hub’ at scheduled times throughout the day.

Also at the Recreation and Event Centre will be the ‘Faculty Showcases’ – an annual crowd favourite showcasing Curtin Malaysia’s three faculties and graduate school.

With interesting themes like ‘Engineer’s Land’, “Entrepreneurs Hub’, ‘The Human Planet’ and ‘Spacetopia’, the showcases will offer visitors a hands-on experience participating in experiential activities like performing simple lab experiments and learning through interactive displays. Visitors also stand to collect interesting giveaways after visiting the various booths.

Curtin Malaysia Open Day is the most anticipated annual event at the Curtin Malaysia campus after its graduation ceremonies. Established in 2006, it has since become an annual fixture and a key event in the university’s calendar of student recruitment and brand-building.

Each year, the event attracts thousands of visitors and a sizeable crowd is expected again this year, including close to 500 secondary school students.

Apart from the ‘Future Students Hub’ and ‘Faculty Showcases’, other attractions on the day will include the second annual Curtin Croc Challenge and other faculty-run competitions, an art exhibition and competition, food and retail stalls, a community corner, day-long stage entertainment and ‘Curtin’s Got Talent’ and ‘Mr & Ms Curtin’ contests.
