School-leavers invited to Curtin Academic Open Day in Kuching on 24 March

Miri – 21 March 2018 – Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) is organising a Curtin Academic Open Day in Kuching this Saturday, 24 March 2018, from 1 pm to 5 pm at the Waterfront Hotel, to support school leavers from the Kuching region interested to enrol at the university.

School leavers are strongly encouraged to attend to find out all they need to know about getting a world-class Australian tertiary education at Curtin Malaysia, the largest international campus of Curtin University – a global university with well-integrated campuses in Australia, Malaysia, Singapore and Dubai and ranked in the top one percent of universities globally in the renowned Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).

Curtin Malaysia is also Curtin University’s global hub in Asia, and as such, offers world-ranked courses and degrees identical to those offered by its parent campus, as well learning and teaching facilities and a student learning experience consistent with all of Curtin’s global campuses.

The Academic Open Day in Kuching follows a highly-successful event at its campus last weekend, which attracted a significant number of school-leavers in Miri and their parents.

The Academic Open Day is aimed at providing potential students and their parents with all the necessary information they need regarding the courses of their choice, admissions and scholarships. In addition to student recruitment staff, they will get meet academics from the faculties of Engineering & Science, Business and Humanities who will be able to give them further guidance on choice of courses, course accreditation and career pathways.

SPM leavers who have just received their results, in particular, are encouraged to attend and find out about Curtin Malaysia’s current Foundation Studies intake, which has been extended until 20 April 2018. They are advised to bring along their actual results for on-the-spot assessment and application purposes.

Those attending can also find out about scholarships and loans available, including the newly launched Curtin Foundation Scholarships amounting to RM3 million, as well as the Curtin Malaysia Merit Scholarships, for school leavers with outstanding results in the SPM, STPM, O-Level, A-Level and UEC examinations.

“We strongly urge school leavers in Kuching and elsewhere in Sarawak to take this grand opportunity for an affordable, global education with an Australian university here in Borneo that is recognised as being truly world-class, and get a real international campus experience on our 1,200 acre global campus with students and staff from over 50 different countries,” said Curtin Malaysia Pro Vice-Chancellor, President and Chief Executive Professor Jim Mienczakowski.

“In addition, you will be joining a Curtin student population of over 50,000 across all our campuses and partner institutions, and you will graduate with a world-recognised Curtin degree, and join a diverse alumni network of some 215,000 Curtin graduates from 155 different countries,” he added.
